About this Bite Sized Session

This micro-learning course introduces housing professionals to Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) through an equity lens, highlighting how trauma, lived experiences, and systemic inequities can shape the way individuals interact with housing systems. Housing instability, eviction, foreclosure, and financial stress can have significant emotional and psychological impacts, often influencing a client’s level of trust, engagement, and decision-making. Participants will learn how applying trauma-informed principles can transform the way housing services are delivered. The course explores the four key actions of trauma-informed care—Realize, Recognize, Respond, and Resist Re-traumatization—and introduces the six core principles that guide supportive, respectful, and equitable service environments. By understanding the role of historical and systemic barriers in housing, professionals will gain insight into how an equity-centered approach can help build trust, strengthen communication, and create more client-centered systems. This course equips housing professionals with practical knowledge to support individuals and families with dignity, empathy, and respect while promoting more equitable housing services.
