Revenue Strategy
This is about how your organization generates money in a deliberate, diversified way. It includes grants, yes — but also donors, partnerships, earned income, and other streams that reduce vulnerability. Instead of asking, “Where can we get funding?” you begin asking, “What funding model best supports the work we are designed to deliver?
Impact Strategy
This is where you design how your organization creates measurable change in a deliberate, structured way. Programs are built around outcomes — not just activities or outputs — so the transformation you seek is clear and intentional. Instead of asking, “What services should we offer?” you shift to a more strategic question: “What measurable change are we designed to produce, and how will we know it’s happening?
Alignment Strategy
This is where revenue and impact come together in a deliberate, structured way. Funding streams are designed to reinforce your programs rather than shape them, so resources directly support the outcomes you aim to achieve. Instead of asking, “How do we raise more money?” you shift to a strategic question: “How do we align funding with our programs to maximize mission impact and long-term sustainability?”
About the Course
Funding Forward is a strategic learning journey for mission-driven organizations ready to stop chasing funding and start designing sustainability. At its core, this experience helps leaders understand that their organization — and the work they do — is the bridge between the resources they secure and the impact they promise. Funding does not create impact on its own. Programs do not sustain themselves on passion alone. The organization is the connecting structure. When that structure is intentionally designed, resources flow more strategically and outcomes become measurable and repeatable. Through four immersive modules, participants explore the architectures of impact — the systems that connect purpose, program design, revenue, and measurable change. You will clarify your mission at a structural level, design programs with outcomes in mind, and build a revenue & impact strategy that aligns funding with results rather than scrambling to fit programs into whatever grant opportunity appears. The course also introduces social enterprise thinking and practical strategies for diversifying funding sources beyond federal or state grants. Instead of depending on a single revenue stream, you’ll learn how to build a balanced model that includes individual donors, earned income opportunities, partnerships, and institutional funding — each reinforcing the other. You will also examine the evolution from storytelling to what we call story proving. Storytelling matters — it connects people emotionally to your mission. But today’s funders and stakeholders require more than inspiration. They want evidence. In Funding Forward, you will learn how to strengthen your storytelling by backing it with data, measurable outcomes, and the real work happening at the community level. When narrative and evidence align, credibility increases and funding conversations shift from persuasion to partnership. By the end of Funding Forward, your organization will understand how to integrate funding, strategy, operations, and measurement into one cohesive system. Revenue and impact stop competing for attention and start reinforcing one another. Sustainable impact doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when the bridge between resources and results is built with intention.
